DONALD DOYNE DOYLE On Oct. 18th in the year of 1935, in Quincy, Illinois, the Doyle family welcomed a baby boy- Donald Doyne. Don was one of 6 children born to Jonathan R. and Bessie Marion [Turnhoffer] Doyle. His brother, Dean, and sister Wilma are deceased. Gerald and Alice Doyle, Arlene Jones and Virgene and Paul Phillips are still living. Don attended several small country schools through the 8th grade. When he was young, he cut timber. One night, at the Hancock County Fair in Augusta, Illinois, Don met the beautiful and charming Norma Louise Phillips. On December 14, 1957, at a church in Carthage, they were wed. Don lost his beloved wife of almost 50 years on July 12,2005. From this union came a close-knit bunch of children. Rex Eugene is married to Susan and lives in Basco. Donald Ray Doyle as well as Carla Jo and Micahel Link, Julie Kay and Doug Bollin, and Brent Michael and Crystal Doyle, all live in or around Carthage. Wilma Lousie and Robert Leake are from Heyworth, Illinois. Connie Sue and Michael Wright are from Basco. As if seven children weren't enough, Donald also has seven grandsons and six granddaughters. The "grands" are Dustin, Bryant, Ryan, Brandon, Brokk, Denton, Mikey, Chelsea, Deanna, Hunter, Kristen, Megan and Angela. Throughout the years, Don enjoyed horse's, reading, history, antiques, hunting and absolutely loved a good game of "pitch". He enjoyed children and welcomed any child that came to the house with open arms. Every week-end was "family-time" and he spent much time with his brother's and their families. Donald once had a horse named Bridget, a dog named Jason, and another dog named Lucky. They were all very special to him and are all now in pet heaven. Don's favorite food is fried potatoes, and his favorite color is yellow, the color of the rising sun! He enjoys old Westerns and likes reruns of Bonanza, Gunsmoke and likes rodeos. The light of Don's life was Norma, his beloved wife. She was his soul-mate and his reason for living. His family is what he values most in his life. DONALD'S LIVING HISTORY Oct. 16, 2006
